Seattle Black Businesses was brought to life in November 2019 as an outlet to uplift the local Black-owned business community in the Pacific Northwest. It is now a Washington State Non-Profit Organization dedicated to fighting for equity and inclusion in the realm of business.
Seattle Black Businesses knows that Black people are less likely to find sustainable employment opportunities in Seattle and King County and/or continue to be under-employed due to systemic racism.
Entrepreneurship is key. With a thriving Black business community, jobs and opportunities will be created, wealth will be easier to obtain, and access to insurance and affordable healthcare will be more easily acquired.
Currently, the lack of Black businesses is a direct relation to the wealth gap in Seattle. We want to ensure we can provide the education to start and sustain a business as well as prioritize the circulation of our dollars within our community.
